Since 1923, this shipyard has been engaged in the design, construction, conversion and repair of ships in the port of Den Helder. For doing this work, it has facilities which include several slipways and a drydock featuring a lifting capacity of 1100 tons and a small drydock with a lifting capacity of 200 tons. This shipyard primarily works for the fishing trade and the offshore industry. For the latter, it has converted fishing ships into safety-standby vessels. Scheepswerf Visser carries out inspection, maintenance, repair and conversion work on all kinds of offshore vessels. Early 1993, the yard became part of the Damen Shipyard Group.
